Tozette does a great job with pacing and characterizing the cast. Harry, if not the Slytherins he spends his time with, talks, reasons and reacts like an 11 year old boy would to the people he encounters.
And ultimately that's what lost me. He's 11 and incredibly good at rationalizing things (especially after being prodded by Voldemort) and he seems to be coming to the incredibly wrong conclusion again and again. It's been a bit since I was eleven but I never jumped from "A prophecy foretold my family would defeat you" to "you acted completely in self-defense." That's a leap in logic I doubt ever having been able to make.
A toodumbtolive hero being mentored by the bigbad just doesn't hold my interest for very long. But that's likely just a personal thing. Like I said, great pacing and the characters all seem very real. If you like slytherin!Harry stories where he doesn't auto-god mode things from the get go this would be a good fit for you. Sure he has Voldie's memories but he spends most of his time reading rather than just inheriting everything.
